Saturday morning blathering.....

Quiet, quiet Sati’day morn here in Ol Fair Oaks….Roosters relaying the news, one to the other, that the sun is up ’n doing nicely, thank you very much for asking…
Buttermilk biscuits ’n gently fried eggs (aigs, Millyrose sez I call’em) ’n coffee ’n our sad excuse for a morning paper, The Sac Bee, that seems to become ever more puerile as the summer waxes on….(with at least half the country devoutly as conservative as the other half is liberal) you’d think that a newspaper, even a McClatchy one, would at least acknowledge that Big Government ain’t working out quite the way they envisioned it would…
Ah well, what the hell, the sun is shining, the Delta breeze is working the way God intended it should, I c’n hear a few birds chirping among the rooster calls ’n I have almost a full cup of coffee left…Life is Good ’n yeah, I know it’s just a slogan on a tee shirt but so what???

“Patriotism is supporting your country all the time ’n your government when it deserves it.”

‘Round ’n about…

Busy day in Ol Fair Oaks….busy, busy…..2 Sheriff Deputies taking down a young man in Plaza Park…haven’t seen such an innocent look on a face since I caught Rusty going thru the trash…
Round the corner, one of the reg’lars sleeping it off…kind’a early in the weekend for me but to each his own…’course, we generally go to the park much earlier in the day…different time, different goings-on….but the chickens are there ’n people walk their dogs all the same ’n Rusty ’n Willy get all the same excited...
Nabor Doug ‘uz setting up his yard sale for the weekend…bringing out his wagon wheel again…after watching the price on it go from  $65 to $25,  I  told him he should try raising it again so on our way back, we saw it wuz up to $35….ah, marketing!
Both re-construction sites on Crestline are super busy as the long weekend approaches…bet they’ll hang it up early t’day…..
Missing the Fair Oaks hardware…it wuz such a staple here for so many years…now we have to choose between Lowe’s  ’n Home Depot, both of ‘em about the same distance ‘cept opposite directions...
"When you have nuthin' to say, you still have a choice.  You c'n shut up or you c'n natter on."

54 years 'n counting......

The Owl and the
Pussycat

I
The Owl and the Pussy-cat went to sea
In a beautiful pea green boat,
They took some honey, and plenty of money,
Wrapped up in a five pound note.
The Owl looked up to the stars above,
And sang to a small guitar,
'O lovely Pussy! O Pussy my love,
What a beautiful Pussy you are,
          You are,
          You are!
What a beautiful Pussy you are!'

II
Pussy said to the Owl, 'You elegant fowl!
    How charmingly sweet you sing!
O let us be married! too long we have tarried:
But what shall we do for a ring?'
They sailed away, for a year and a day,
To the land where the Bong-tree grows
And there in a wood a Piggy-wig stood
With a ring at the end of his nose,
          His nose,
          His nose,
With a ring at the end of his nose.

III
'Dear pig, are you willing to sell for one shilling
Your ring?' Said the Piggy, 'I will.'
So they took it away, and were married next day
By the Turkey who lives on the hill.
They dined on mince, and slices of quince,
    Which they ate with a runcible spoon;
And hand in hand, on the edge of the sand,
They danced by the light of the moon,
          The moon,
          The moon,
They danced by the light of the moon.

Not quite sure how it got t'be Thursday so quickly but, there t'is.....

Haven’t done a blog for a few days… (daze)…no real excuse for it, just laziness, I s’poze…

Anywaze…Da boyz were a little unhappy with me t’day cuz I put off their morning stroll while I gave some attention to the south forty…the dandelion crop wuz doing very well, thank you very much but I felt no compassion for them as I waded among them with my battery-powerer whacker ’n laid waste  hither ’n yon…I watered the garden ’n my yellow oleander…a little puzzling ‘cuz two of the s’pozed t’be yellow are now adorned with red flowers….I think I’ll have to complain next time I’m in Lowe’s….
Gave up the fight at 12:30 ’n came inside, wuz immediately beseiged by both dogs so we took our ‘morning’ stroll in the early afternoon ’n they still got their treats from the beauticians….
The old movie theater (the quonset) has been remodeled ’n a For Rent banner hangs across the front…the new turf in Plaza Park looks pretty good ’n seems to have survived Fair Oaks Fiesta in good shape…the movers ’n shakers of Ol Fair Oaks are still batting the name change thing back ’n forth with some of ‘em calling it Fiesta ’n some of ‘’em calling it Springfest…you’d think  it’d be a simple matter to decide but like Benghazi, I guess it’s a partisan thing….
Speaking of Benghazi, the headline in the Sacramento Bee this morning about the Benghazi hearings focused on Republican rancor rather than testimony about the lies told by the Obama administration…’course, that’s t’be expected seeing as how the Bee is unadbashedly Democrat…makes me yearn for the days when the Sacramento Union was still being published and we were able to get a more balanced take on the news of the day…ah well, daze of yore….
